Fossil Quarry

Fossiliferous material is brought in to create your very own quarry. A section of the school property about 20 x 20 feet or larger if you are so inclined, is set aside for what amounts to an organized sand box surrounded by boulders chocked full of fossils. Different substrates are used from different time periods. The site is “seeded” but fossils will weather out naturally from the surrounding material. Signage explaining what is present can be added by science classes. An excellent addition to an outdoor classroom or nature walk. The possibilities are endless.
